Context
Designed a storybook addressing the issues related to Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy for children. I participated with my teammate in the D'Source-DIC, BHU SDGs Design Challenge in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. The challenge was to design fictional, imaginary illustrated stories for children to grasp the issues suited for children aged 3 to 10 years old.
The storybook was the winner of the BHU SDGs Design Challenge.
Background
The Game of Universe storybook was created to teach kids about environmental responsibility through a fun, engaging narrative. Centered around five elements—Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. The elements were given human-like forms to make them relatable to the younger generation. We made the hand sketches for ideation, and then rendered the digital sketch of the whole story.
The story follows the evolution of Earth, the rise of human activity, and the damage caused by industrialization. Framed as a game, it shows how nature reacts, teaches humans a lesson, and ultimately forgives them when they adopt renewable energy solutions like solar and hydropower. The story ends with harmony restored, offering a hopeful message for future generations.
